Honors Recital
1. Date: May/June
2. Parameters and Purpose:
  1. a)  Two Honors Recital times on the same day are held at the Staller Center.
    Teachers are afforded the opportunity to honor students who display sound musicianship and outstanding achievement. Members may select one student for each of the two recital times as a representative of their studio.

  2. b)  This is traditionally the last recital of the season. It is a special event with refreshments served afterward.
  3. c)  Students may perform on PIANO SOLO ONLY, at NYSSMA Level 3, Guild Intermediate C or RCM-MDP Grade 2 and above. An exception to this rule would only be for the first place winners of SPTF Piano Competition.
  4. d)  Teachers may NOT participate in the performance of duets and ensembles.
3. Repertoire:
  1. a)  Original repertoire only for piano.
  2. b)  There is a single piece registration per student. Each movement of a sonata or a
    sonatina counts as a single piece. Each prelude, fugue, suite dance movement will be
    considered as a single piece.
  3. c)  If a teacher registers 2 students, the COMBINED time limit is 10 minutes. If a
    teacher registers only 1 student, the time limit is 7 minutes. Please time students’ performances accurately. An exception to the time limit will be only be given to first- place winners of the SPTF Piano Competition.
4. Memory:
a) Memorization is required.
5. Registration & Fee:
  1. a)  Each teacher may submit a maximum of two students.
  2. b)  Two students from one teacher must perform at different recital times.
  3. c)  $10 per student.
  4. d)  There is no sibling discount.
  5. e)  There is no registration fee for first-place winners of the SPTF competition.
6. Warm-up time:
  1. a)  There will be a warm-up time sign-up sheet at the Staller Center.
  2. b)  Students must be present in order to sign up for a warm-up time.
